Our New Ride

We picked up our new Winnebago Revel in Iowa. We were really impressed with the dealer — Lichtsinn RV in Forest City — and how professional they are. The van was plugged in, cleaned and disinfected and awaiting our inspection when we got there.

Why did we drive to Iowa to buy it, you ask? The dealer is one mile from the Winnebago factory, and we prefer to put the miles on the van during the break-in period ourselves rather than have someone drive it to a dealer in Albuquerque. Plus this dealer is the best in the country when it comes to sales, education and training on Winnebago’s products.

We thought our old Sportsmobile was a beast, but this new machine feels really tall and huge when standing close to it.

Inside, the fit and finish is really nice for an RV. We are really happy to have waited for the 2021 models to come out since there were many improvements both large and small over the previous years’ versions.

Driving it is a big step up for us. We can’t say that it is really “car-like,” but it’s probably as close to that as a large van can be. The seats are comfortable, the windows provide a panoramic view, and the hood is so low that the road feels like it is in your lap. Collision avoidance, adaptive cruise, and blind spot warning are all welcome features.

Koda has her own seat and a window that she has already decorated with her nose art.

Wow looks fabulous Roz. And Todd. Way too big for me to drive it. I don’t even like to drive a car with 4 doors. Have a blast!!

Koda’s nose art?? Very funny! Nose art is normally associated with personalizing one’s airplane, especially WWII bombers . . . but now that you mention it, Walter has memorialized my windows with his “nose art” as well! As they say, It’s a dog’s life!
